Export Revit to IFC and view your model in a browser

IFC is an open format used across BIM applications. A well-prepared Revit export lets you explore the project by floor and element type, inspect its properties, and give your client a walkthrough on their phone.

  1. Open the 3D view you want to share

In Revit, open a 3D view and hide anything you do not want to present, such as placeholder furniture, meshes and annotations. The viewer displays the content you export.

  2. Go to File → Export → IFC

Choose a folder and a short filename in the IFC export dialog, for example house-lopez.ifc.

  3. Choose IFC 2x3 Coordination View 2.0 or IFC4

Both work in the viewer. IFC 2x3 CV 2.0 is a widely compatible option; IFC4 can preserve some curved geometry better. If IFC4 Reference View is unavailable in your Revit setup, choose another supported preset.

  4. Export only the elements visible in the view

Under Modify Setup, enable the options to export only elements visible in the view and to export Revit property sets. This keeps the file smaller while retaining the information you want to share.

  5. Open the file in the viewer

Go to drbstudio.mx/visor and drop the IFC into the window, or select “Abrir mi proyecto” (Open my project). The model is processed in your browser; opening it does not upload the file to a server.

  6. Add the project details and save your views

Enter the project name, your name or practice, and the site location. The viewer uses the location to look up the available OpenStreetMap surroundings and calculate the sun position. Then save the views you want to present.
